Dear Parents,

We are writing to inform you of an event for which members of the National Honor Society may volunteer for on Monday, February 8^th. A “Get Motivated Business Seminar” event will take place at the Grace Community Church on I-45 South. Guest speakers are: Colin Powell, Sarah Palin, Zig Ziglar, Rick Belluzzo, Lou Holtz, Tamara Lowe and Rudy Giuliani. All speakers will be live at Grace Church. NHS members will be volunteering to host the capacity crowd with greeting, ushering, information and overall customer service.

This is a full day’s event; however, CLCS students will be helping only from 8am until 1pm. Due to an overflow of the traffic we ask that parents drop off the students at the doors of the church by 8am. They will return to school in a school bus at 1:00pm. Students that need to be at San Jacinto College in the afternoon must have a ride.

1) Dress code is slacks with oxford style shirt; no jeans.  Grace church will also have vests for volunteers to wear.

2) Students will meet in the Grace chapel up front of the foyer before being assigned. Mrs. Backus will be attending a meeting for volunteers at Grace Church next Sunday 2/7 for any further information.

National Honor Society

Attention Junior students and parents:

There will be an informative meeting discussing academic preparation for your Senior year. This is a crucial time for juniors, thus the necessity for a meeting to address issues such as SAT, ACT, college applications, letters of recommendations, college campus tours, GPA, class rank, financial aid, Senior trip, etc. will be discussed. Please plan to attend on Thursday, February 11 at 6:30pm in the Colonial room.

This is an exciting time for juniors, but also a time to hone academic skills and to exert responsibility. I hope to see you there.

Our prayers and hearts go out to the Haitian people.  CLCS is taking up several special offerings to alleviate the suffering and needs we have all witnessed.  Our elementary children are bringing loose change that is being placed in a large jar in the school office.  Beta club will be raising awarness and collecting funds through our Friday jean day and this weeks chapel that will go to Samaritan Purse, a ministry of the Billy Graham ministry.  They will use these funds to build shelter's and provide water.

 If you would like to donate thru CLCS 100% of any money given will be sent to the Haitian needs and is tax deductable.

The Eagle Athletic Parents of Clear Lake Christian School work to provide a link between the community and the school to raise the needed funds to enhance the current athletic programs. This sponsorship will allow us the opportunity to raise the funds required to pursue our goal of excellence in athletic competition. Clear Lake Christian School was founded in 1993 under the name of Grace Christian School. It was designed to provide quality Christian Education to the Clear Lake and Bay Area of southern Houston. Since the school’s inception, we have focused on teaching students the principles of Christian leadership, self-discipline, responsibility, integrity and good citizenship.

The School has grown, and now has over 300 children in grades K-12. We also, as in previous years, will be hosting foreign exchange students. We have a science lab, computer lab, band room, choir room, and library. We offer a variety of sports programs for our male and female athletes in both high school and Jr. High.

Hours of Operation:
CLCS school hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Students may begin arriving to our gym no earlier than 7:45 a.m.

Extended care:
(6 a.m.-8:15 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.-6 p.m.) for children in kindergarten through fifth grade is offered through the school's affiliated daycare/preschool Discovery Kingdom Child Development Center (281-280-8282). Discovery Kingdom also has a drop-in program for those times you find that you will not be able to pick up your child at 3:30 P.M.
